This Saturday, the Rosehill Guineas Day is being held at the beautiful Rosehill Garden’s Racecourse in Sydney, forming part of the illustrious Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
While the headlining race will be the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m), the Group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m) has got 16 top quality horses nominated, all hoping to compete for a share in the $150,000 purse.
The successful trainer David Payne has three nominations in Centennial Park, Emperor Bonaparte and Kettledrum. Perhaps his best bet for the 2010 Ajax Stakes will be Emeror Bonaparte, the gelding recently finished third in the Group 3 Showcase Jewellers Newmarket Handicap (1400m).
Mr Baritone could be another contender as his last three runs have all produced a top three place finish.
Finishing second in the Handicap was Brilliant Light and the gelding could well be a strong contender. Trained by Kerry Parker, the four-year-old has won two of his last three starts, with the third being the Handicap.
Mr Baritone could be another contender as his last three runs have all produced a top three place finish. Most impressive was his second place finish in the Listed Hareeba Stakes (1200m) at Mornington.
Also taking place on Saturday at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on Saturday will be the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m), the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) and the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m).
